Marriage Readiness Programme

Shaadi Se Pehle

14 August Batch — Fully Booked Next Batch Starts: 6 September 2026

A Practical, Psychologist-Led Marriage Readiness Programme for Men and Women

You may be preparing for the wedding. But do you feel prepared for the marriage?

Marriage can bring excitement, companionship and hope—but it can also create fear, pressure and many unanswered questions.

Marriage is not a game—it is a lifelong decision. Give yourself the opportunity to understand expectations, responsibilities and important concerns before saying yes.
You may be wondering:
  • Am I emotionally ready for marriage?
  • How do I know whether this person is compatible with me?
  • What should I discuss before saying yes?
  • How will we manage parents and in-laws?
  • What if our expectations about careers, money or household responsibilities are different?
  • How do we communicate during disagreements?
  • What should we discuss about intimacy, privacy and children?
  • Is my fear normal, or am I ignoring an important concern?

You do not have to enter marriage with unanswered questions.

Join Shaadi Se Pehle, a practical four-session online programme led by psychologists for men and women who are planning, considering or preparing for marriage.

The programme combines psychological guidance, practical exercises, real-life situations and group discussions to help you approach marriage with greater clarity and confidence.

This is not just a lecture

It is a practical and interactive learning experience.

Marriage-related concerns cannot always be understood through theory alone.

During the programme, you will participate in practical activities that help you apply what you learn to your own life.

The sessions may include:
  • Marriage-readiness self-reflection.
  • Compatibility and values exercises.
  • Real-life relationship scenarios.
  • Communication practice.
  • Family-boundary planning.
  • Financial conversation checklists.
  • Household responsibility planning.
  • Green, yellow and red flag exercises.
  • Anonymous questions.
  • Personal or couple marriage charter.
  • Guided discussions led by the psychologist.

You will not only learn what healthy relationships look like—you will also explore how to handle difficult situations in practical ways.

Learn from the experiences and perspectives of other participants

One of the most valuable parts of a group programme is realising that you are not alone in your questions.

Other participants may be experiencing concerns related to:

  • Arranged-marriage pressure.
  • Fear of choosing the wrong partner.
  • Joint-family expectations.
  • Career changes after marriage.
  • Financial responsibilities towards parents.
  • Communication difficulties.
  • Inter-caste or interfaith marriage.
  • Relocation after marriage.
  • Household responsibilities.
  • Intimacy and privacy.
  • Pressure regarding children.

Through psychologist-guided discussions, participants can listen to different perspectives and learn how other men and women understand and approach similar situations.

This can help you:
  • Discover questions you may not have considered.
  • Understand how expectations may differ between men and women.
  • Learn from different family and cultural backgrounds.
  • Feel less isolated in your fears or uncertainty.
  • Recognise that the same situation may be viewed differently by different people.
  • Develop greater empathy for a future partner.
  • Explore possible solutions to common marriage-related challenges.

Participants are never required to disclose personal information. They may share only what they feel comfortable sharing.

Experiences shared by members are used for reflection and learning. They do not replace professional psychological guidance or personalised counselling.

Designed for both men and women

Marriage creates expectations and responsibilities for both partners.

Women may have concerns about:

  • Career continuation after marriage.
  • Relocation.
  • Household expectations.
  • Adjustment with in-laws.
  • Financial independence.
  • Personal freedom.
  • Pregnancy and childcare pressure.
  • Emotional and physical safety.

Men may have concerns about:

  • Financial responsibility.
  • Pressure to become the primary provider.
  • Supporting parents after marriage.
  • Managing expectations between a spouse and family.
  • Expressing emotions.
  • Career pressure.
  • Household participation.
  • Fear of conflict or relationship failure.

This programme creates a balanced space where the expectations, fears and responsibilities of both men and women are discussed respectfully.

It does not promote the idea that only one partner should adjust.

Instead, participants learn how both partners can communicate, take responsibility, establish boundaries and build a healthier partnership.

Does this sound familiar?

“Everything appears suitable, but I am still uncertain.”

The family may approve. The person may appear suitable. Wedding discussions may have started.

Yet you may still be asking:

  • Do we understand each other well enough?
  • Will my personal boundaries be respected?
  • Can we handle disagreements?
  • Will one person be expected to make all the adjustments?
  • Will my partner support my career and responsibilities?
  • How involved will our families be?
  • Are we avoiding conversations because they feel uncomfortable?

Uncertainty does not always mean the relationship is wrong.

Sometimes, it means that you need better questions, more honest conversations and a clearer understanding of what marriage may involve.

Marriage preparation should be practical

Knowing that communication is important is not enough.

You also need to understand:

  • How to raise a difficult subject without starting an argument.
  • How to disagree without insulting or threatening each other.
  • How to discuss financial obligations towards parents.
  • How to establish boundaries with in-laws respectfully.
  • How to talk about household responsibilities.
  • How to discuss career continuation or relocation.
  • How to ask questions about children and parenting.
  • How to communicate discomfort regarding intimacy.
  • How to recognise unhealthy control or manipulation.
  • How to decide when professional support is needed.

The programme uses practical examples and guided exercises to help participants understand how these conversations may actually happen.

What makes this programme different?

Do Not Wait Until After Marriage to Begin Important Conversations

Many relationship problems do not begin because people are incompatible.

They begin because expectations were assumed but never discussed.

Before making one of the most important decisions of your life, give yourself the opportunity to:

  • Ask better and more meaningful questions.
  • Understand your own and your partner’s expectations.
  • Learn practical communication and relationship skills.
  • Recognise concerns before they become conflicts.
  • Prepare for family, financial and personal responsibilities.
  • Approach marriage with greater clarity and awareness.

Marriage is not a game—it is a lifelong decision. Preparing for honest conversations today can help prevent misunderstandings tomorrow.

The psychologist will moderate the discussion to ensure that it remains respectful, relevant and psychologically safe.

+

Yes. Participants may ask general questions during the live discussion.

An anonymous question form may also be provided for questions that participants do not feel comfortable asking openly.

Is this programme the same as individual or couple therapy?
+

No. This is a psychoeducational marriage-readiness programme.

It provides structured information, practical tools, guided exercises and group learning. It is not a substitute for:

  • Individual psychotherapy.
  • Couple therapy.
  • Psychiatric treatment.
  • Diagnostic assessment.
  • Crisis intervention.
  • Legal advice.

Participants requiring personalised support may book a separate consultation.

Will the psychologist tell me whether I should marry a particular person?
+

No. The psychologist will not decide whether you should marry or reject a particular person.

The programme will help you:

  • Understand your expectations.
  • Identify important questions.
  • Recognise unresolved concerns.
  • Improve communication.
  • Consider practical responsibilities.
  • Make a more informed personal decision.

The final decision remains with you.

Will I receive a compatibility or psychological fitness certificate?
+

No. The programme does not provide a compatibility certificate or a certificate declaring that someone is psychologically fit for marriage.

Participants may receive a Certificate of Participation after completing the programme.

The certificate will only confirm participation and will not represent a clinical assessment or recommendation regarding marriage.

Can I cancel my registration?
+

Yes. You may cancel your registration at least two days, or 48 hours, before the scheduled start time of the programme.

A cancellation request must be submitted to the support team within this time period to be eligible for a refund.

What happens if I cancel less than 48 hours before the programme?
+

If a cancellation request is received less than 48 hours before the scheduled start time, a refund will not be possible.

However, your registration may be rescheduled or transferred to the next available batch whenever the programme is conducted again.

The date and timing of the next batch will depend on future programme availability.

Can I reschedule my registration to another batch?
+

Yes. When permitted under the programme policy, your registration may be transferred to the next available batch.

If you are unable to attend the scheduled batch, please contact the support team as early as possible.

Rescheduling is subject to seat availability and the schedule of future batches.

What happens if I miss one session?
+

Participants are encouraged to attend all four live sessions because the programme is interactive and sessions will not be recorded.

If you miss a session, a recording will not be available. You may still receive the related learning material, subject to the programme policy.

Missing an individual session will not ordinarily qualify for a partial refund.

Where operationally possible, the team may guide you regarding participation in the corresponding session of a future batch, but this will depend on availability and cannot be guaranteed.

What happens if the programme is cancelled by the organiser?
+

If the complete programme or a particular batch is cancelled by the organiser, registered participants may be offered:

  • A full refund, or
  • Transfer to the next available batch.

Participants will be informed through their registered email address or phone number.

Will I receive a refund after attending a session?
+

A refund will not be available after the participant has attended or completed a session.

The programme fee covers reserved participation, live facilitation, programme material and administrative arrangements.

Is the programme confidential?
+

Participants are expected to maintain the confidentiality of all information shared during the sessions.

They must not:

  • Record the sessions.
  • Take screenshots.
  • Share another participant’s personal information.
  • Post private discussions on social media.
  • Contact another participant privately without their consent.

Although the psychologist and programme team will take reasonable steps to protect privacy, participants should avoid sharing information that they do not wish to discuss in a group environment.

Who may require personalised support instead of a group programme?
+

A group programme may not be sufficient where there is:

  • Active domestic violence.
  • Forced or coerced marriage.
  • Sexual coercion.
  • Serious threats or intimidation.
  • Suicidal thoughts.
  • Severe psychiatric symptoms.
  • Active substance dependence.
  • Serious financial deception.
  • Ongoing legal conflict.
  • A need for detailed individual or couple assessment.

In such situations, personalised professional or emergency support may be more appropriate.

How will I receive the Google Meet link?
+

The joining link and relevant instructions will be sent to the contact details provided during registration.

Participants should ensure that their email address and phone number are entered correctly.

The link should not be forwarded to anyone who has not registered for the programme.

Can two partners join through different devices?
+

Yes. Both registered partners may generally join through separate devices or from the same device.

Joining through separate devices may make it easier for both partners to participate in polls, chat and individual activities.

The Google Meet link should only be used by the participants included in the couple registration.

How can I reserve a seat?
+

Select the appropriate registration option:

  • Individual registration: ₹999
  • Couple registration: ₹1,499 for both partners

Complete the registration and payment process. The programme team will then share the batch schedule, Google Meet details and participation instructions.

Because the sessions are interactive, seats may be limited for each batch.
