Shruti Yadav

I have been trained as a Clinical Psychologist at the King George’s Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow. I embarked on Clinical Psychology as a second career after having worked in the media for over 10 years, including at Hindustan Times and Indian Express. Based on my life experiences, I highly value the role of clear and effective communication in all relationships, including that between the therapist and client. Facilitating self-expression through narrative, play, role playing and art techniques is an important exercise for me. While using primarily cognitive behaviour and mindfulness-based therapies, I believe in tailoring treatment to individual needs and incorporating Gestalt, psychodynamic, narrative and humanistic approaches when required. During my training at KGMU, I had the opportunity to work with clients presenting with several different kinds of complaints both in term of assessment and therapy. While completing my dissertation, I worked extensively with persons with Borderline Personality Disorder, and this is an area of interest for me. I am specifically interested in incorporating techniques of positive psychotherapy with traditional Dialectical Behaviour Therapy to improve mastery and quality of life.
Other areas of interest for me include OCD, neurocognitive assessment and training and parent training for children with behavioural and learning disorders. I have expertise in relationship, marriage and family counseling
